Before you watch this, I want to clarify that I did TEACH while I was doing my middle school field work, but I was referring to the fact that I didn't teach on the first day (or the first couple weeks for that matter). :)
Good luck!! Ugh... we are into the one week countdown and I'm just as nervous as you are... But I like what you said about being the "solid rock" that your kids can trust in. They need us. They need us to be on the ball and ready to take charge. But don't agonize too much about that first impression--you are a teacher by nature and by instinct. You're going to be setting that impression the moment you walk in the room, and they'll be able to tell that you're real. :)
